Our Faith

The Episcopal Church

"The Episcopal Church strives to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts and all are welcome.  Walking a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions, we are a sacramental and worship-oriented church that promotes thoughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be, as followers of Christ." - The Episcopal Church Visitors' Center

St. Andrew’s Adult Education Series - Sunday September 12 at 9:15am

Canon Theologian, Marcus Borg will be the “springboard” for a five week DVD study of topics basic to Christian Belief such as God, Jesus, Salvation, Practice, and Community.  This series promises to be one of the best yet and challenge everyone to go deeper into what they understand their basic faith system to be.

After a 20-minute DVD introduction by Dr. Borg, the participants will be led in a discussion of issues raised in the DVD.  Make an effort to come and be part of this exploration of faith and Christian values/meaning.

Calling all Sunday School Parents!

St. Andrew’s has a Sunday School program for every person from age 3 and up. We even have Adult Ed. Yes… parents, there is even a program for you to attend while your kids are in their classes. Free time with other adults!

For the kids,  age 3 – Kindergarten; there is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Godly Play in use at our Sunday School.

Grades 1-3 and 4-6 will be working with the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum augmented with hands-on activities and projects continuing the Catechesis.

Rite 13 and J2A are our current two classes in our Journey to Adulthood program.  These are the classes that bond our youth and set their path towards confirmation.

This year we’ve planned for more class time enhancement, plus activities and gatherings bringing our children and youth together.

Please help support these efforts as Jesus asked us to do, and we promised to do when they were baptized. Let your children know that Sunday school is important in their lives as Christian people. Show them by your example, that continuing your faith education is important to you by attending Adult Ed. classes.

Sunday school isn’t just “school”. It is the formation of the building blocks of the next generation. Please bring your children and begin your Sundays at 9:15 AM starting Sept. 12th.

P.S. Parent’s, don’t tell them, but there is the potential for your kids to have a lot of fun, despite the possibility of learning something.

A Prayer for Guidance

We thank you for your presence, O Lord, in our lives and ask for the continued guidance of Your Holy Spirit, that we may know Your will for our parish.

Grant our Vestry and Priest wisdom and steadfastness to bring unity to our parish and to make decisions needed that will lead us on the path that You have prepared for us.

Give us strength, courage and faith to care for each other and to reach out to our community.

All this we ask to the glory of Your name, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
